Wire Act
Jonathan Stavleu (NL)
06/10 - 22/10/2022

In the exhibition "Wire Act", artist Jonathan Stavleu engages in the mapping of electrical cables, exploring the area around DOM gallery and replicating it in an interactive kinetic installation inside the gallery space.

The electrical network is an assemblage and its effectiveness depends on cooperation - the interactive intervention of many structures and forces. Stavleu creates an individual situation that allows the viewer to connect to the main network by making the wires "act". The viewer's interaction with the electrical model allows them to harmoniously become one of the many elements of the assemblage, which would only be interrupted by dangerous live wires or power outage.

Jonathan Stavleu (NL) has a BA in Fine Arts from Utrecht University of the Arts (2019) and a MA in Contemporary Art from the Estonian Academy of Arts (2022). Stavleu's artistic practice is based on documenting and archiving public space. Following the internal and material logic of observed objects and situations, Stavleu transfers them into sculpturally semantic installations, often using elements of light, sound and kinetics.
