Clash Culture
Aina Bikše, Elza Lapiņa (ft. Eduards Maksis), Lidija Zaneripa
13/10 - 28/10/2023

A lapse of time, a testimony of an occasion, an imitation, a clash, a confusion: a moment frozen in time and material. Human experience can capture and encapsulate a certain moment, rendering it 'insignificant' or 'eternal' in time and space.

Do not match. To be at odds with each other. Be different. Ideas and trends that are relevant to each of the artists merge in the triumvirate, creating a visual, conceptual, and also personal clash. The result can have different consequences, depending on the rules adopted individually. But the reality of artworks is trying to be free from these consequences.

Aina Bikše, Elza Lapiņa and Lidija Zaneripa have so far jointly created group exhibitions 7KA (2019) and POHA (2020). As part of this exhibition, Elza Lapiņa has invited Eduards Maksis to cooperate.

Aina Bikše actively participates in exhibitions, interdisciplinary projects and residencies. In her creative activity, she emphasizes not only the realization of the idea in form, material and volume, but also on bringing the audience closer to philosophical contemplation. Both in large-format installations and fragmented video works, Aina Bikše is not afraid to provoke with honesty and attitude towards nature. Synthesizing different materials, creating objects, images, and structures.

In her artistic practice, Elza Lapiņa creates audio-visual works and installations, the place and environment of the exhibition location are often taken into account in the process of creating and planning the works. In her artistic work, she often includes the practices and technological features found in the profession of a restaurateur, offering new forms of interpretation. Participated in several group exhibitions and events in Latvia, Lithuania, Belgium. Created her first solo exhibition in 2022.

Lidija Zaneripa experiments with a combination of materials and different media in her creative activity. Works with images and video installations. Often clinging to trivial motives, she looks at them and presents them from extraordinary angles. Actively participates in exhibitions, creates interdisciplinary art events in Latvia and abroad.
