CIM (Dena Doloresa Sircova, Gints Virgilijs Tilks, Elizabete Andersone)
28/04-13/05/2022
The exhibition examines the impact of traumatic experiences, the mechanisms of escape from reality and the impact of the current era on the human psyche. The modern situation has driven people into inactivity and fear of the unknown, which forces an increasingly large part of society to fall into the reins of escapism. The opportunity to look at the derivatives of this lifestyle as a viewer from the outside, gives the opportunity to draw parallels with oneself and others, thus also actualizing and normalizing the raised topic. The versatility of the studios of these three artists allows us to look at the topic in different planes, environments and realities. Using digital media, fine art skills and the knowledge of industry specialists, during the exhibition it is planned to create not only a visual and audio message, but also an exchange of experiences - a discussion.
Dena Doloresa Sircova, Elizabete Andersone and Gints Virgilijs Tilks, while studying together in the Visual Communication sub-sector of the Latvian Academy of Arts, created the art association CIM. To celebrate the time spent and experienced together, CIM created an exhibition that reflects on the studies spent together during the pandemic, as well as global problems and current events. Jointly participated in the exhibition "As if lost" (2021) on the digital platform Overly. Dena Doloresa Sircova works with audio-visual media, performance and virtual environment - video game experience. The works discuss and search for symbols, beliefs, pop culture - studying them in the context of the post-Soviet period. How the environment and circumstances influence existing beliefs, ethics. Gints Virgiliis Tilks previously participated in the exhibition "Self-fulfilling Prophecies" (2021). In the process of creation, photography, screen printing and installations are chosen as media. Elizabete Andersone creates audio-visual works. In addition to video, photo and sound works, in recent years experiments have been made in the 3D environment and site-specific visual art genre works have been created, which include the specifics of augmented reality.
