"&" is a performative light installation that explores the complexity of relationships and the entanglements of the mind through the metaphor of conjugation.
The gallery space transforms into a labyrinth, in which tangles of wires symbolize both the technological networks we depend on and the emotional entanglements in our minds and relationships. These entanglements reflect invisible patterns of thought, behavior, and relationship loops.
During the exhibition, a performance act will take place – a gradual untangling of the knots, which will serve as a symbolic healing process. With each untied knot, a small light will light up in the darkest and most distant part of the gallery space, thus indicating the resolution of internal tension and the clarification of mental space.
Patrīcija Māra Vilsone obtained a master's degree in Graphics from the Latvian Academy of Arts (2024), and supplemented her knowledge at the Hungarian Academy of Arts (2022). She creates animations in graphic techniques. Her artistic practice is distinguished by experimental solutions and an interactive approach to the fusion of art forms. Her works are characterized by a close connection with sound and language, which serve as the main sources of inspiration in the creative process. The artist creates both her own works and participates in the performances of other artists.
